TRYING FOR THE COVER:
Here is my 4.33kg bass caught at Albert Falls on a Watermelon Chart Fluke at 08h00 in the morning on 26 December last year.
PS: It’s always been a dream of mine to make one of the covers for the magazine... :-) Just trying really hard!

GROENVLEI:
On 1 January after about an hour of rowing and trying different lures we eventually found a good spot on the Groenvlei Lake outside Sedgefield. The Storm “Big Bass Square”l Lure did the trick and even though the bass were not big, we caught about 7 or 8 in 20 minutes!

RAIN & FISH AT NTIBANE:
Planning the weekend was the easy part; trying co-ordinate getting there was a different story. With both my father and father-in-law pulling out at the last minute, due to work and other family crises, it was only my brother-in-law and myself going. With our departure time being heavily delayed and a lot of rain and mist on the way, we only got to Ntibane just on 9pm. Luckily Graham Root had everything ready for us when we got there. Saturday morning was an early and very wet one. The rain persisted the whole day, but so did our fishing. We both landed a few small ones but also got stuck into so of the big ones Ntibane has to offer. Both these fish pictured, weighing about 1.5kg each,  where caught before 7 am. Most of the fish where caught on plastics. On Sunday we had to get going early, and as luck would have it the weather was perfect. We will definitely be going back for round two some time soon.

Thanks to Graham and co. for a great venue, with great fishing. Danny Swarts, Empangeni.
